Few audio brands have made the kind of indelible mark that has been left by QUAD in its 70 year history. Fewer still have generated the kind of enduring public interest that spawns a book. But the interest in QUAD’s legendary history refuses to abate and now it is masterfully retold by author Ken Kessler in his new book QUAD: The Closest Approach.

A true hard cover collectable, QUAD: The Closest Approach, chronicles the story of QUAD from its birth in the English countryside in 1936 through its many innovations and industry firsts to the present day. Kessler combines interviews with narrative to bring the characters to life and tell the story from those who lived it. Beautifully illustrated with vintage photographs the book also reveals the simple sophistication of the company’s industrial design sense that touched not only the products, but the marketing materials as well.

QUAD: The Closest Approach is a book that should be a part of every audio enthusiast’s library. Not only does this book enlighten us to Quad’s many years in the industry, but it helps us remember Peter Walker, who was truly a straight wire with gain.
